Not sure what is happening with the weather, but I like it. I headed back to Circleville, OH this past Saturday for another track day on the KTM 560SMR. I added a slipper clutch, new radiator, sliders, slicks, preformed a full service, etc… the night before the event and the bike ran flawless. I must say that I’m very happy that the weather has held out like it has. Maybe I’ll get another day or two in this winter!

There were about 20 or so people on motards all with varying abilities. I really want to get a lap timer to be able to track my progress. I felt 5-10 seconds/ lap faster this time than last. I figured out how to ride foot out style rather than knee out. On such a tight track it really is faster to ride this way. Transitioning from side to side is much easier as you just throw the bike around and don’t have to move your entire body mass to the other side of the bike. The tires really made a difference too as the set I had on last time, Contiforce, had a really weird profile. The rear was almost a square so it felt like I was fighting with the tires to get the lean angle I was looking for. This time with Dunlop UK slicks, which have a very round profile, the bike just fell into the turns beautifully.

The weather was right around 60 degrees F, but I was actually sweating my ass of in my suit and helmet. Unbelievable weather for mid-December. If the weather stays like this through the first part of January maybe we’ll get another in before the winter actually arrives. It is going to be a very short off season this year!
