I guess I spoke too soon! Over the Thanksgiving break when the weather was so nice I headed to Circleville raceway, a kart track in Ohio to do some supermoto riding. It was my first time on an actual kart track, what an experience. It is awfully different riding around trying to turn at such slow speeds compared to a large road corse. The track was .7 mile and around 12 turns. It was interesting to say the lest, but once I got a grip on it I was alright and had a good time. It was a little unnerving being on the track with four wheeler, go-kart and an 8 year old on a 50cc bike all at the same time. Needless to say the rules were fairly lax at this “event”. Oh well the cost was only $15 for the day and it was no stop track time. Currently, there are discussions of a January track day at Talladega, so this season may be more like year round schooling where there are several shorter breaks rather than a single long one. I’d rather it be this way anyhow.
On another note I believe I have complicated my bike search by buying a 2006 749 from ebay. I got a really good deal so I can either play with the bike, add a few parts and make some money by selling it or keep it for my self and end the bike search. I suppose it could be my track only bike and I could get a HM1100S for the street, but I still don’t want that many bikes taking up space. I guess I’ll wait and see what this bike is like and make a decision as to what I’ll do with it when it gets here. I am having it shipped from California as we speak so I should see it within the next couple of weeks. There is a buzz about some 920 kits being available soon with 100mm bore 999 cylinders and Pistal pistons so that is a thought! The kit is fairly priced from what I’ve heard (exact price is not know yet), but it isn’t known if the cylinders and pistons are going to match well enough. They may need to be re-Nickel Silicon Carbide coated and that will add $400+ to the deal which is a slight bump up in cost. I’ll just wait this out and see exactly what happens.
