Riding to the cave, alone.

So I was in Louisville, KY this weekend to help out with the Ducati 1098 unveiling at Commonwealth. The unveiling was Saturday and I decided to stick around at my parents place Sunday to do a little dirt riding. It was not too cold at 34 degrees F, especially when I was having to carry the bike over wet rocks! I was sweating bullets out there at that point. I hadn’t been to the cave on the back part of their property since I was a kid. At that time my grandparents owned the property and I lived quite far away so it was really cool to walk out there when we were little.

I was basically wondering through the woods and probably the only reason I found the cave was because there were no leaves on the trees so I could see quite a bit in each direction. We used to walk a lot through the little creek as it leads to the cave, but it was all ice and riding on it was quite treacherous! There is nothing like riding with the clutch in, both feet down, no brakes and trying to keep the bike perfectly upright so it won’t eat it!

Anyhow, all of the hard work of getting there paid off when I arrived and was able to soak up the environment. It was pretty much as I remember it. I wanted to venture into the cave since not too far in there is a nice waterfall, but I was alone and without a flash light so I thought better of it. Probably a good thing. I’d hate to be lost and alone in a cave!

I have nothing but good things to say about my 2006 YZ250F. It does everything I ask it to do and when it doesn’t, it’s light enough to pick up and move it to where I want it. A win/win I suppose.
